Tswalu Kalahari covers about 100,000 hectares.It is South Africa’s largest private game reserve.

Tswalu Kalahari is a  luxury remote lodge that can take no more than thirty guests at a time.

The name Kalahari is derived from the Tswana work Kgala meaning the great thirst,or Kgalagadi, meaning the waterless place. The Kalahari has remained a true wilderness area.

The southern Kalahari,receives  more rain than the other parts of the Kalahari,therefore it attracts a diversity of  wildlife.Its called the Green Kalahari.

The main Suite area  called  Motse, is located at the foot of the Korannaberg mountains,It has just eight luxury secluded suites.


These luxury suites have been using local stone,the local rich red clay and traditional Kalahari thatch

The design style is that of combining African artifacts and art with modern furniture

Each of the luxury suite at Tswalu Kalahari have:

You will luxuriate in you  king-size bed that is located on a raised deck in the middle of this desolate,remote game reserve.The deck has a thatched overhang for protection should it rain.It also has weather-proof blinds

Nothing but the night shift of the local animals talking to each other,under a star filled Africa sky.

  • adjacent outdoor toilet, basin and shower are close by, on a lighted walkway.

This is the place to absorb yourself into a  a Kalahari sunsets.

You  are driven/escorted to the sleepout by a guide,who will set up drinks and snacks.Your private chef prepares dinner.

You will wake to a beautiful Kalahari sunrise, listening to the birds singing.Tea/coffee and a continental breakfast is set up for you on the deck.
